Finding Superior Grade Emerald Jewelry
Sure, it is easy enough to find emerald jewelry here and there, but when it comes to finding actual superior grade emerald jewelry, the top of the line, this process tends to be a bit more difficult. You really have to be careful when you are looking for emerald or any other type of jewelry, as there are many scammers out there who are looking to rip you off.
Although it can be next to impossible to completely avoid these bad apples, there are a few things in particular that you can look for and a few things that you can learn in order to make yourself more aware and less of a target.
Things to Look for
When you are in the market for emerald jewelry or any other type of gemstone jewelry for that matter, one of the first things you need to determine is whether the stone you are looking at is natural, synthetic or imitation.
Natural colored gemstones are the real thing, courtesy of nature, and with no interference from humans. Of course by the time they appear in jewelry they have been cut or polished, however the important thing here is that they have not been tampered with or altered in any other way.
Synthetic gemstones are quite different, and they are stones which share the natural stones’ physical, chemical and optical qualities, and yet which are created in a lab and thus are not really like natural gemstones at all. These stones have essentially the same properties as their natural counterparts, however they do not have the rarity of natural colored stones and they are much less expensive as well.
Finally imitation stones are those which are basically completely fake altogether. They are those which may look like the real thing at first glance, but which are easily detectable, even by the novice jewelry lover. They do not share any of the physical characteristics of natural or even synthetic stones, and many are made of glass or plastic.
Superior Grade Emerald Jewelry
Because there are so many different types of gemstones out there, and because the fakes can often be hard to tell apart, this is why a process such as finding superior grade emerald jewelry is so important.
If you want authentic, superior grade emerald or other gemstone jewelry, then you want to make sure to stick with the major jewelry companies, such as Zales, Kay’s Jewelers, People’s, and Novica. Also, you always want to get a certified appraisal with every jewelry piece that you buy, not only so that you yourself can be absolutely sure of its quality and value but as well so that you have written proof of it.
